The revolution in the EVOO industry is also a reality in Turkey.

The work of Birsen Can Pehlivan, she has been engaged for years in the delicate task of promoting quality. 

Turkey is a very rich country in regards of its olive varieties. Olive oils produced with the correct and modern methods from different varieties continue to bring quality awards to their producers in competitions held around the world. For the first time, an EVOO from Turkey is a finalist for the Best in Class "Coupage" prize.
Olive oil producers in Turkey put more effort in producing the right olive oil each and every year. One of the reasons for this, is the awareness that the producers gain on producing olive oil. The trainings organized by various institutions and organizations for olive oil contribute significantly to the development of this awareness.
An internationally acknowledged olive oil taster and food engineer herself Birsen Can Pehlivan, brings together names that can be accepted as authorities in the field of olive oil from Italy, Greece and Israel with Turkish producers. Birsen Can Pehlivan together with experts like Antonio G. Lauro, Kostas Liris, and Ehud Soriano organizes workshops and seminars for the Turkish producers. Through these seminars the Turkish producers gain knowledge on the world markets, marketing and production of high-quality olive oil from the olive grove to the bottle.
Turkey has an important place in the world where the olive tree is indigenous on Anatolian and Mesopotamian lands and with its rich olive varieties. The quality olive oil produced from the rich varieties with different flavors unknown in the world markets, supports the Turkish producers in redefining their place in the world’s olive oil market.
During the worldwide live award ceremony celebrated in Palmi (Italy), the difficult work of the EVO IOOC 2020 judges, including Birsen Can Pehlivan and Mehmet Özgü Manisali from Turkey, was remembered.

There were 491 EVOOs and Flavored EVOO in the competition, an increase of 13%. Oils entered from as many as 25 countries in the world, divided between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
Among all the medals of EVO IOOC 2020, it is worth mentioning the 54 medals out of 61 entered assigned to Turkey, with a success rate of 88.5%.
The olive oils were from varieties like Domat, Trilye, Uslu, Edremit, Tekir, Çekişte, Dilmit, Halhalı, Karamani, Saurani peculiar to Turkey and Arbequina grown in Turkish terroir.
Among the winners also Bozelli, who with the extra virgin olive oil Bozelli brings home a well-deserved "Best of Turkey" award and Cumbalı LTD ŞTİ (Cumbalı Premium) finalist for Best in Class category "Coupage"
