Calabria, Italy consolidates its presence in the world circuit of Extra Virgin Olive Oil’s event.

Will be the Municipality of Palmi to host the final act of EVO IOOC Italy, the great international event on Extra Virgin Olive Oil dedicated to producers and consumers. 

Throughout continents, a growing number of connoisseurs and food lovers are taking an interest in the complex and fascinating world of EVOOs. These new consumers search for more specific information, follow with strong interest the results of contests and read EVOO guides, precisely in order to guide choices and consumption. 

"And EVO IOOC Italy is no exception”, Stefania Reggio General Manager of EVO IOOC Italy says. "More and more food and wine connoisseurs and those who focus on the health aspects linked to the consumption of this precious ally of health that consulting the results on our website in order to find of the excellent olive oils awarded the seal of quality and downloading the annual guide which as usual will be available for free”.

To meet these new demands, the contest management is preparing an Awards Ceremony for June 30 that celebrates the producers and their achievements, giving luster to those who have worked passionately in the olive groves for a whole year, while at the same time bringing producers and consumers together.

Guests of honor the producers, even if from this year the event will also be attended by consumers and enthusiasts from the whole world.

The venue chosen for this celebration is the Villa Comunale of Palmi, which the English writer Edward Lear in his Diary of a Journey on Foot described as "one of the sights for which the few travelers who pass from Reggio to Naples by land are wont to give enthusiastic praise”. Starting at 5:30 p.m. (CEST), in addition to the celebration of the winners of the eighth edition of EVO IOOC Italy and the awarding of the coveted trophies and medals, a series of events open to the public, will take place, culminating in guided tasting sessions, designed specifically for those who want to learn about the world's extra virgin olive oil excellence.

Among these paths are the masterclasses "DegustaMondo" and "DegustaCalabria," conducted by the international judges of EVO IOOC Italy 2023 and with the participation of competition president Dr Antonio G. Lauro, whom we ask to tell us about the hidden face of the eighth edition of the contest.

"A long trail made by the scents of the EVOO, between fragrant sensations and pleasant flavors, this is what remains after the four intense days of tasting that decreed the best EVOOs and Flavoured in the world," Lauro begins. "All 24 International Judges were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the competing products and by the biting beauty of this unusual Calabria, which hosted and pampered them during the World EVOOs Week. Each of them," President Lauro concludes, "brings back with them a little piece of Calabria, made of smells - certainly - faces, places and flavors”.

As already revealed on the contest website, there were 694 products in the competition, with 623 Extra Virgin Olive Oils and 71 Flavoured EVOOs, submitted by 30 nations and from as many as 26 different producing countries.

Only one piece is missing to the conclusion of the competition, namely unveiling the "Best of Show" of this eighth edition of EVO IOOC Italy. 

To seal an olive oil year that was not very generous, marked by excellent productions, the two Best International and seven Best in Class of the competition will be discovered and the EVOOs that the jury awarded special prizes will be known.

The appointment is set for June 30 in Palmi; for those who will not be able to follow "live" the final stages of the competition, the organizers have guaranteed international coverage of the event, through live social broadcasts on the competition's Facebook and Instagram pages. To facilitate the participation of the international audience that has already announced its presence in Palmi or remotely on social media, this year the ceremony will be online on Facebook (www.facebook.com/EVOIOOC) and on the Instagram page (www.instagram.com/evoiooc) of EVO IOOC Italy.

La Calabria consolida la propria presenza nel circuito mondiale degli eventi sull’Olio Extravergine di Oliva.

Sarà ancora la Città di Palmi ad ospitare l’atto finale di EVO IOOC Italy, il grande evento internazionale sull’Olio EVO dedicato a produttori e consumatori. 

In tutti i continenti un numero crescente di cultori ed appassionati della buona cucina si interessa al mondo complesso, ma affascinante, dell’Olio EVO. 

Questi nuovi consumatori ricercano informazioni più specifiche, seguono con forte interesse i risultati dei contest e consultano le guide dell’olio, proprio al fine di orientare scelte e consumi.

Per venire incontro a queste nuove esigenze, il management del concorso sta preparando, per il 30 giugno, una Cerimonia di Premiazione che celebri i produttori ed i loro risultati, dando lustro a chi ha lavorato con passione nelle olivete per un anno intero e che nel contempo metta a confronto produttori e consumatori.

Ospiti d’onore, come logico i produttori, ma da quest’anno all’evento saranno presenti anche i consumatori ed appassionati da tutto il mondo.

La location scelta per questa celebrazione è quella che lo scrittore inglese Edward Lear nel suo  Diario di un viaggio a piedi definì come “uno dei panorami per cui i pochi viaggiatori che passano da Reggio a Napoli terra sono abituati a dare entusiasmatiche lodi”, ossia la Villa Comunale di Palmi. Qui, a partire dalle ore 17:30 (CEST), oltre alla celebrazione dei vincitori dell’ottava edizione di EVO IOOC Italy ed alla consegna degli ambiti trofei e delle medaglie, si svolgeranno una serie di eventi, aperti al pubblico, che culmineranno con percorsi guidati di degustazione, disegnati appositamente per quanti vorranno conoscere le eccellenze olearie mondiali.

Tra questi percorsi le masterclass “DegustaMondo” e “DegustaCalabria”, condotte dai giudici internazionali di EVO IOOC Italy 2023 e con la partecipazione del presidente del concorso Dr Antonio G. Lauro, al quale chiediamo di raccontarci il volto nascosto dell’ottava edizione del contest.

“Una lunga scia fatta dai profumi dell’olio, tra sensazioni odorose e piacevoli sapori, è questo ciò che rimane dopo le quattro intense giornate di assaggio che hanno decretato i migliori Oli EVO e condimenti del mondo”, esordisce Lauro. “Tutti i 24 Giudici internazionali sono stati piacevolmente sorpresi dall’alta qualità dei prodotti in gara e dalle graffianti bellezze di questa Calabria inusuale, che li ha ospitati e coccolati nella settimana mondiale dell’Olio EVO. Ognuno di loro”, conclude il presidente Lauro, “riporta con se un pezzetto di Calabria, fatto di odori - sicuramente - ma anche di volti, di luoghi e di sapori”.

Come già svelato sul sito del contest, sono stati 694 i prodotti in concorso, con 623 Oli Extravergini di Oliva e 71 Condimenti a base di Olio EVO, presentati da 30 nazioni e provenienti da ben 26 paesi produttori differenti.

Alla conclusione del concorso manca solo un tassello, ossia svelare i “Best of Show” di questa ottava edizione di EVO IOOC Italy. 

A suggellare un’annata olearia poco generosa, ma contraddistinta da eccellenti produzioni, si scopriranno i due Best International ed i sette Best in Class del concorso e si conosceranno gli Oli EVO che la giuria ha insignito dei premi speciali.

L’appuntamento è fissato per il 30 giugno a Palmi; per quanti non potranno seguire “dal vivo” le fasi finali del concorso, gli organizzatori hanno garantito una copertura internazionale dell’evento, attraverso le dirette social sulle pagine Facebook e Instagram del concorso. innanzitutto vorrei ringraziarla per aver partecipato con i suoi prodotti all’edizione 2023 del concorso.
L’ottava edizione del contest EVO IOOC Italy ha avuto la partecipazione di quasi 700 prodotti (Oli EVO e Condimenti) e si è avvalsa di una giuria di 24 professionisti che ha lavorato a lungo ed in modo egregio al fine di decretare la vittoria dei prodotti di eccellenza.
Sono state attribuite complessivamente dai giurati 346 medaglie d’oro e 168 d’argento, ma manca solamente conoscere quanti hanno vinto uno dei trofei Best of Show (Best International, Best in Class, Best of Country e Special Awards) del concorso.

E’ importante che ciascun produttore si registri prima della cerimonia in modo da organizzare al meglio la premiazione. Nel corso dell’evento i vincitori registrati potranno raggiungerci sul palco per ritirare i propri riconoscimenti.

Dear Producer,

first of all, I would like to thank you for participating with your products in the eighth edition of the contest.
The 2023 EVO IOOC Italy had the participation of almost 700 products (EVOOs and Flavoured) and was supported by a jury of 24 professionals who worked long and excellently in order to decree the victory of the outstanding products.
A total of 346 gold and 168 silver medals were awarded by the jurors, and now it is only missing to know who won one of the Best of Show trophies (Best International, Best in Class, Best of Country and Special Awards) of the competition.
The location chosen for the Awards Ceremony is one that the English writer Edward Lear in his Journal of a Landscape Painter in Southern Calabria described as "one of the sights for which the few travelers who pass from Reggio to Naples by land are wont to give enthusiastic praise" namely Villa Comunale in Palmi. Starting Friday June 30 at 5:30 p.m. (CEST), in addition to the celebration of the winners of the eighth edition of EVO IOOC Italy and the awarding of the coveted trophies and medals, a series of events open to the public will take place, culminating with guided tasting tours, designed specifically for those who want to learn about the world's extra virgin olive oil excellence, conducted by the international judges of EVO IOOC Italy 2023 and with the participation of the competition's president Dr Lauro.
To participate in the ceremony, it is mandatory to communicate one's presence with an e-mail to be sent to info@evo-iooc.com or by registering on the day of the awards ceremony, from 3:00 pm to 5:15 pm, at the booth close to the awards stage.
It's important for producers to register before the show so that we can best organize the awards ceremony. During the event, registered winners can join us on stage to collect their awards.
