Call to action from Antonio G. Lauro, an NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition panel member, who is also helping to raise money for new medical equipment for four different hospitals in the southern province of Reggio Calabria.
“Agricultural areas are often more in need of medical equipment,” Lauro said. “That’s why this kind of initiative deserves attention. In this difficult moment, we also try to give support to all those who work in the hospitals.”
“This action is very important for my birthplace, to which I owe my first introduction to the world of extra virgin olive oil,” Lauro added. “Unity is strength, and now everyone’s help is needed to get us through this emergency soon, in the best possible way.”

Una chiamata all'azione da parte di Antonio G. Lauro, panel leader del NYIOOC, che sta anche aiutando raccogliere fondi per nuove attrezzature mediche da destinare a quattro diversi ospedali della provincia di Reggio Calabria.
"Le aree agricole hanno spesso più bisogno di attrezzature mediche”, ha affermato Lauro. "Ecco perché questo tipo di iniziativa merita attenzione. In questo momento difficile, cerchiamo anche di fornire supporto a tutti coloro che lavorano negli ospedali."
"Tutto questo è molto importante per la mia città natale, alla quale devo il mio amore per il mondo dell'olio extra vergine di oliva”, ha aggiunto Lauro. "L'unità fa la forza, ed ora è necessario l'aiuto di tutti per farci superare questa emergenza nel migliore dei modi.”

Amici carissimi,

siete in molti a scriverci per avere notizie sul EVO IOOC Italy e per questi motivi vorremmo informarvi in merito allo svolgimento del nostro concorso internazionale.

Come tutti saprete, il mondo intero sta vivendo momenti particolari, difficili ed intensi. Stiamo affrontando una grave situazione che nessuno poteva prevedere o immaginare, al punto che la OMS ha appena dichiarato ufficialmente la “Pandemia”.

Ad oggi, visto che i recenti Decreti del Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri (DPCM 8, 9, 11/03/2020) fissano al 3 aprile p.v. la data di scadenza dei provvedimenti di “Italia Zona Protetta”, possiamo confermare che il concorso EVO IOOC Italy avrà luogo come previsto in Maggio (18/30) e sempre in Calabria (Palmi).

Anche se al momento, tutte le ipotesi sono possibili, anche quella di un rinvio, noi rimaniamo fiduciosi nella possibilità di espletarlo nei termini previsti, poiché mancano ancora due mesi e mezzo all’avvio del concorso.

Come tutti aspettiamo le decisioni ulteriori della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri e qualora dovessero pervenire successivamente al 3 aprile 2020, nuove indicazioni da parte del Governo, questa organizzazione si attiverà per rispettare appieno eventuali nuove disposizioni e comunicherà a tutti voi tempestivamente ulteriori decisioni in merito.

Nel frattempo, tutto il nostro EVOIOOC Team ha accolto l'invito del Governo Italiano, facendo proprio l'hashtag:  #iorestoacasa!

Press release of the President of the EVO IOOC competition, Dr Antonio G. Lauro.

Dear friends,

Many of you are writing to us for news about EVO IOOC Italy.

For these reasons, we would like to inform you about our international competition.

As you all know Italy, and the whole world, are living special, difficult and intense moments. We are facing a serious situation that nobody could have foreseen or imagined, and the WHO has just officially declared the "Pandemia".

We thought what was best for all of us, whether to confirm, postpone or cancel the contest EVO IOOC.

But your lovely letters that we received along with the love we all have for this job, the love we all have for this industry gives us the courage and hope to continue.

Although from today and until April 3, Italy will be "Protected Zone", we can confirm that the contest will take place in Palmi (Calabria) in May (18/30).

Even if it is a serious and difficult moment and since there are still two and a half months to start the competition, we are confident that everything will go well and that EVO IOOC Italy will take place regularly, just like the other last four years.

We are also waiting for the next decisions of the Italian Prime Minister and should new indications come from the Italian Government, this organization will respect any new provisions and will promptly communicate to all of you further news.

In the meantime, all EVO IOOC Team has accepted the invitation of the Italian Government, using the hashtag: #IoRestoACasa! (literally, I stay home).

Ultimora: sospeso il Corso per assaggiatori di Santa Giorgia di Scido.

AVVISO IMPORTANTE

In via cautelativa, ed in ottemperanza alle disposizioni del DPCM del 4.3.2020, la Soc. Cooperativa Olivolio ha deciso di sospendere momentaneamente le lezioni del corso per aspiranti assaggiatori di olio di Santa Giorgia di Scido (RC).
Le tre giornate mancanti al completamento del percorso formativo saranno recuperate in seguito.
