Awards Ceremony of EVO International 2024

Dear Producer,

First of all, I would like to thank you for participating with your products in the 9th edition of the contest. The 2024 EVO IOOC Italy had the participation of almost 700 products (EVOOs and Flavored) and was supported by a jury of 25 professionals who worked long and excellently in order to decree the victory of the outstanding products.

A total of 486 gold and silver medals were awarded by the jurors, and now we are only waiting to know who won one of the Best of Show trophies (Best International, Best in Class, Best of Country, and Special Awards) of the competition.

The location chosen for the Awards Ceremony is the Teatro Comunale Nicola Manfroce in Palmi. Starting Saturday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. (CEST), in addition to the celebration of the winners of the 9th edition of EVO International and the awarding of the coveted trophies and medals, a series of events open to the public will take place.

These will culminate with guided tasting tours, designed specifically for those who want to learn about the world's extra virgin olive oil excellence.

These tours will be conducted by the international judges of EVO IOOC Italy 2024, with the participation of the competition's president, Dr. Lauro.

To participate in the ceremony, it is mandatory to communicate one's presence with an e-mail to be sent to info@evo-iooc.com or by registering on the day of the awards ceremony, from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm, at the booth closest to the awards stage.

It's important for producers to register before the show so that we can better organize the awards ceremony.

During the event, registered winners can join us on stage to collect their awards.

For those who will not be able to follow the final stages of the contest "live", we have provided international coverage of the event through live social feeds on the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/EVOIOOC).

Best regards Dr Antonio G. Lauro

EVO IOOC Italy 2024: on line le medaglie del contest - The medals are out

The ninth edition of the EVO IOOC Italy competition was concluded in Palmi, Calabria, adding a new piece to the competition puzzle.
The names of the finalist companies and oils for each trophy category, which were up for grabs by the Italian competition, are already known in detail (see the video: https://evo-iooc.it/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/evo-iocc-2024-nominations.mp4).
The results obtained by nearly 700 participants, including EVOOs and Flavoured EVOOs, in the 2024 edition of the EVO International, are now available on the website www.evo-iooc.it.
The awards were decided by an international panel of judges from Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Greece, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, and Turkey.
Over four intense days of tasting the 671 competing samples, they awarded the 2023/2024 'olive oil excellences', the result of painstaking work carried out by oil companies worldwide.
The competition's numbers were surprisingly high, revealed President Antonio G. Lauro, particularly considering the severe crisis that the olive oil sector has faced in the last two years. The slight drop in the number of participating products was less than expected and was offset by the extremely high average quality of both the EVOOs and Flavoured EVOOs in the competition.
As stated, here are the details of the 486 medals awarded by the competition, categorized into the most valuable metals, Gold and Silver.
Italy was awarded the highest number of medals (139 between Gold and Silver) out of the 185 samples submitted for the competition (27.6% of the oils received).
They were followed by Turkey with 102 samples and 77 medals in total, Greece with 88 samples and 60 medals, and Brazil with 69 products in the competition and an impressive 63 medals awarded and the highest success rate (over 90%).
The final act of the competition will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 7 p.m. in Palmi, where the final event will take place, culminating with the Award Ceremony.
During this event, the winners of the absolute prizes, i.e., the 'Best' in each category, will be announced in detail: Best International Award (EVOOs and Flavoured EVOOs,), Best International Organic, Best International DOP/IGP, Best International Monovarietal, Best International Coupage, all strictly divided into Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.
These prestigious trophies will be accompanied by the 12 'Best of Country' prizes awarded to participating nations with a minimum number of EVOOs (Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey) and no less than three Special Awards, one of which is dedicated to the figure of Prof. Raul C. Castellani, co-founder of the competition.
